La Carrera Panamerica 2001????

Maybe.

Once I went through the trouble of removing the engine that came with this '75 out. I found extensive damage. I don't know if it was from sitting so long or from hard use, but the crank was broken

Look at the glop that was in the engine. I think that at one time this was oil.

(hint: It's not supposed to look that way)

But that's ok, because I picked up this extensively modified 1973 2.0l. It only has 9000 miles on it since the rebuild according to the paperwork. It's a 2.4l thanks to the larger pistons and different crank and puts out between 125 and 130 hp. That's more than the 914-6's did. This engine really makes use of the Weber carbs, as the stock fuel injection just couldn't keep up. The original owner decided that he wanted even more power, and converted his 914 to a flat 6 engine from a 1992 3.6l 911 engine. Yikes.
Here's the 914 as it waits for me to finish preparations. I'm putting in a chassis brace kit and an 8 point roll cage. The car is pretty sound without any of the bad structural rust that 914's are prone to. And aside from the ugly faded paint, it's fairly straight. I'll be painting it silver I think.
